1. OVERVIEW ABOUT OM5451 RICE IN VIETNAM
Rice characteristics:
- OM 5451 rice varieties with growth time relatively short (90-95 days), tillering pretty, relatively stiff straw.-26g), medium (95-100 cm), beautiful shape, seed cotton closed beam, low floaters rate, quite heavy 1,000 grain weight 25.
- With the beautiful grain, elongated, little white, soft and tasty rice, OM 5451 rice is suitable for exporting.
Number of crops per year:
- Three (Feb to April – Winter Spring, June to August – Summer Autumn and November to December – Autumn Winter).
Growing areas:
- Many provinces in the Mekong Delta including Long An, Tien Giang, Can Tho, Dong Thap and other provinces is planting OM5451 rice and all of kind Vietnamese Rice: Vietnamese Long Grain White rice, Vietnamese Japonica Rice, Vietnamese Jasmine Rice, Fragrant Rice, Brown Rice, Herbal Purple Rice.
